The Indiana Statehouse is located at the corner of Capitol and Washington Street in downtown Indianapolis.

Monday – Friday | 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (excluding holidays)
Saturday | 10:15 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. (excluding some holiday weekends)

Three types of scheduled tours are offered; Welcome Tour, State House Tour and Educational Tour. All tours during regular working hours are free of charge.

All “walk-in” visitors will be accommodated based on the scheduled tours of the day.

WELCOME TOUR

Duration: 15 minutes

An overview of the building, this tour gives guests direction on how to navigate the Self-Guided Tour available at the Information Desk.

Welcome Tours are not available on weekends.

STATE HOUSE TOUR

Duration: 30-45 minutes

This guided tour allows guests to enter available offices and chambers with a guide. It is comprehensive and discusses all three branches of government, the history and architecture of the building.

EDUCATIONAL TOUR

Duration: 75 – 90 minutes

Accommodating as many as 120 people, this in-depth tour covers the history of the building and the state, architectural information about the building and the workings of state government. The group will visit an example of an office, chamber or courtroom representing each branch of government, depending on availability.

Legislators are notified when tour groups from their district are scheduled to visit, and groups can request that their local senator(s) and representative(s) be invited to speak. A legislator’s attendance is dependent on their schedule.

Advanced reservations are required for Educational Tours and are not available on weekends.
