INDIANAPOLIS — After 24 years of service, State Senator Tim Lanane (D – Anderson) has announced that he will not seek re-election to the Indiana Senate in 2022. Lanane was first elected in 1998 and has been successfully re-elected to five additional terms. During his time with the Senate, he served as ranking minority member on the Elections, Agriculture, Judiciary and Fiscal Policy committees. He also served as minority leader from 2012 through 2020.

“It has been my honor to serve the citizens of District 25 for over 20 years, but I feel it is time to thank them for their confidence and allow a new person to step into that role,” Sen. Lanane said.

“Representing Madison and Delaware County has been fulfilling and enjoyable — by far the best part has been getting to know people and working with them on important issues impacting their lives.”

Lanane worked successfully on bills establishing coach trainings to protect student athletes against concussions, guarding consumers from predatory lending practices, promoting public education and creating jobs at Anderson’s Hoosier Park, as well as many others.  He intends to continue his work on similar and important issues in 2022.

“I look forward to finishing out the term next year and hope the General Assembly will take seriously its duty to move Indiana forward.”
