INDIANAPOLIS–Today Senator La Keisha Jackson (D-Indianapolis) was sworn into the Indiana State Senate. She succeeds the late Senator Jean Breaux in representing Senate District 34. Senator Jackson released the following statement:
“I am thrilled to start my job in the Indiana State Senate to represent the people of District 34. My priority is to hit the ground running and deliver solutions for the communities I represent. There is no time to waste, and I am fully committed to working tirelessly to enact positive change.
“My priorities include infrastructure, food deserts, and continuing the work of the Statehouse Democrats. I believe that working together still works. I will use this model to guide my legislation and work in this body.
“As I assume my responsibilities in the Senate, I invite constituents, colleagues, and Hoosiers to join me in my journey toward a brighter future for District 34 and Indiana. I will carry the torch, I will fight the fight, but most importantly I will lift up the voice of the people.”
