SOUTH BEND—Amazon sets plan to invest $11 billion to build a data center in St. Joseph County. This will be the largest planned capital investment in Indiana’s history which will create at least 1,000 jobs for the area. State Senator David Niezgodski (D-South Bend) released the following statement:
“I am thrilled to announce the groundbreaking project with Amazon Web Services with plans to construct a state-of-the-art $11 billion data center campus in St. Joseph County set to revolutionize the technology landscape of our region.
“The decision by Amazon Web Services to establish a significant presence in St. Joseph County speaks volumes about the area’s potential as a tech hub and underscores its attractiveness for major investments. This monumental initiative is poised to generate substantial economic growth, job opportunities, and technological advancement for Senate District 10 and its residents.
“This project is a game changer, and I am excited to see the growth our region will have because of it. I am grateful that District 10 was chosen for this project and I look forward to meaningful collaboration that will propel our region forward.”
