Over the weekend, I had the honor of meeting the inspiring Lake Brothers, Atlas (9) and Zax (10), as they presented a generous WISH donation check to the Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project (GLSRP) at the Beverly Shores Life Ring Station. Through their WISH initiative—"When Imagination Sparks Hope"—these young changemakers are lighting the way for safer lakes and stronger communities. Their latest effort, “Everyone is Safe at the Lake,” will kickstart GLSRP’s “LifeGuarding” GivingTuesday campaign and support critical water safety initiatives. As the author of legislation advocating for life rings at every public pier and access point to the beach, I’m deeply inspired by the Lake Brothers’ dedication to these life-saving efforts. Together, we’re working to ensure water safety becomes as common-sense as fire safety—protecting lives and building a safer Indiana for everyone. Thank you, Atlas and Zax, for your leadership and compassion. You are truly making waves of change!
Happy Thanksgiving, Hoosiers! Today, let’s cherish our families, friends, and the vibrant community we’ve built together. Whether you’re sharing a feast, volunteering, or simply taking time to rest, may your day be filled with warmth and gratitude.
As we approach the 2025 legislative session, I met with fellow Northwest Indiana legislators and we discussed key areas impacting working families. Three top priorities are strengthening workers' rights and opportunities, investing in education and local workers, and economic development. I am dedicated to advocating for these priorities in the upcoming session, working collaboratively to achieve meaningful progress for the region.

Last week, I had the privilege of joining Dr. Mary Jane Eisenhauer and Charles Roberts for an insightful discussion on early childhood development, policy and the importance of community. It was a great opportunity to discuss ideas and explore solutions to support our youngest Hoosiers and their families. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this important conversation! Stay tuned for the Building Block series on these important topics on Lake Shore Media in the coming weeks! #InForAll
