INDIANAPOLIS—State Senator J.D. Ford released the following statement upon the announcement that the State Senate would not convene in December to address Governor Braun’s call to redistrict:
“Time and time again, people showed up to demand that every person in our state receives fair representation.
“In 2021, we heard that the maps we have today were perfect and representative, and from the beginning, it was clear that this scheme was not rooted in fairness, but in the desire for power at the expense of Hoosiers.
“That isn’t the Indiana I believe in, and it is not the Indiana Hoosiers believe in. I am so proud of every person who made that abundantly clear over the last three months—this moment is yours.
“Now, without lingering D.C. distraction in our Statehouse, we can get back to focusing on what truly matters: delivering an Indiana that works for every Hoosier.
“We know utility costs keep climbing, housing is unaffordable and health care is out of reach for too many.
“As we approach the 2026 Legislative session, I remain committed to working with my colleagues to address these issues head-on.”
