INDIANAPOLIS—Following the State Senate’s announcement that it will not convene in December, State Senator Rodney Pol Jr. (D-Chesterton) released the following statement:

“We have received word that the Senate will not meet in December and will instead return, as originally planned, in January to begin the 2026 Legislative Session.

“Ultimately, this is simple: Hoosiers made their voices heard, and the legislature chose to listen. Over the last several weeks, community members, advocates and local leaders stood together to push back against an unnecessary and politically motivated session. Their engagement made the difference.

“With this announcement behind us, I want to turn our focus and energy toward the upcoming 2026 Legislative Session, which begins ceremonially this Tuesday. There is real work ahead focusing on everyday Hoosiers issues of rising utility bills and increasing costs of living.

“Let’s get to the REAL work.”
