INDIANAPOLIS—Sen. J.D. Ford released the following statement regarding Citizens Energy’s efforts to install a pipeline to pump 25 million gallons of water a day to the LEAP Project in Boone County.

“I have continued to hear and share the concerns of folks throughout District 29 about the impacts of the LEAP Project on our community.

“Our state needs to explore ways to innovate and spur economic growth, and I support efforts that work to fortify our state’s economy for years to come.

“However, I have always maintained that the impact on our neighbors needs to be at the forefront of any conversation—that is being missed here.

“We need to be good neighbors, and we need to take care of the folks who call this place home.

“And when those people bring concerns about a pipeline that’ll cut through their property and pump out 25 million gallons of water a day for an IEDC project, they need to be heard.

“I will be closely monitoring this project and its impact on the District 29 community.

I encourage impacted citizens to continue reaching out to their elected officials—we are here to serve you.”
