INDIANAPOLIS—Senate Bill (SB) 232, which allows the City of Gary flexibility in disposing of the city’s real property, passed unanimously out of the Senate Local Government Committee.
State Senator Mark Spencer (D-Gary), who authored the bill, expressed gratitude for the committee’s support of the legislation.
“This bill will give Gary another tool in its toolbox to continue its historic upward trajectory and will help create many jobs around the lakefront,” said Spencer. “I am thankful to Chairman Jim Buck (R-Kokomo), the rest of the Local Government Committee and the folks who testified in support of this legislation today.”
Spencer expressed optimism as SB 232 continues through the legislative process.
“I am looking forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to further advance this legislation through the legislative process,” said Spencer.
