INDIANAPOLIS — Senate Bill (SB) 228, legislation strengthening the Midwest Continental Divide Commission, passed the Indiana House 94-1. State Sen. David Niezgodski (D-South Bend), author of the bill, released the following statement:

“Community revitalization and connectivity will help St. Joseph County grow and thrive,” said Niezgodski. “The Midwest Continental Divide Commission, through this legislation and state budget allocation, will connect the State Line, Potato Creek State Park, Indiana Dinosaur Museum, Pokagon Band of Potawatomi lands, the Lydick Bog, and eight surrounding lakes.”

Niezgodski expressed gratitude to his second and third authors, Sens. Ryan Mishler (R-Mishawaka) and Linda Rogers (R-Elkhart), co-authors Sens. Mark Spencer (D-Gary) and Rodney Pol Jr. (D-Chesterton) and House sponsors Reps. Jake Teshka (R-North Liberty) and Maureen Bauer (D-South Bend). He is also grateful for the bipartisan support of the House and Senate Chambers.
