INDIANAPOLIS—The Metrobloks Data Center was approved yesterday by the Metropolitan Development Commission. State Senator La Keisha Jackson (D-Indianapolis) releases the following statement:
“I am deeply disappointed by the approval of the Martindale-Brightwood data center, and I strongly disagree with this decision.
I stood alongside our community at meetings and in everyday conversations, listening to concerns, asking questions and advocating to ensure that local voices were heard and respected.
Martindale-Brightwood deserves to be a healthy and safe place to live. Residents raised serious concerns about potential environmental impacts and the risk of worsening living conditions. There were also concerns about whether these high-wage jobs would truly benefit the people who live here.
This decision raises real questions about who it serves and at what cost. Our community should not be asked to trade its health and well-being for promises that may not materialize.
I stand with our community.”
