INDIANAPOLIS – On Monday, it was announced that Attorney General Curtis Hill will have his law license suspended for 30 days and will be automatically reinstated after that time period. Senate Democratic Leader Tim Lanane (D-Anderson) released the following statement following the Indiana Supreme Court’s ruling:
“The decision of the Indiana Supreme Court to suspend Curtis Hill from the practice of law reinforces the need for Mr. Hill to resign his position. This decision affirms the previous hearing officer’s findings that Mr. Hill committed battery and otherwise violated his duties as a lawyer and as the state’s chief law enforcement officer. In addition, the ruling points out one thing clearly: All of this occurred because of Curtis Hill’s poor decision-making and deplorable actions.
“The result is now a host of unresolved legal issues as to the legality and operation of the office of Attorney General which would best be cleared up by Mr. Hill finally doing the right thing. He must resign.”
