INDIANAPOLIS—Today during Senate Session, State Senator Lonnie Randolph’s (D-East Chicago) Senate Bill 15 passed out of the chamber with unanimous support. This legislation increases the per diem for a housing authority commissioner from $25 to $100. Senator Randolph released the following statement:
“I’m thankful to my colleagues for supporting this legislation and helping to advance it out of the Senate. This bill will increase the compensation for a member of the housing authority commission, which is charged with identifying and supporting community housing needs. In my district, attracting people to this role has been difficult because of the insufficient compensation. I’m hopeful that my SB 15 will help address that issue and ensure we are better supporting our housing authority, which will help better support the most vulnerable residents in our communities. I will continue working to move this bill forward and hope to see it signed into law.”
