This past weekend, I participated and spoke at the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Martin Luther King Jr Dream Center. We honor Dr. King's legacy through this center to revitalize South Bend and uplift the community. Today in the Appropriations Committee, we discussed recommitted bills and House Bill 1292. House Bill 1292 aims to establish a professional sports development commission to attract professional teams to Northwest Indiana. I've seen firsthand the tremendous impact these commissions can have on local communities through the upper deck addition to our spectacular South Bend Cubs stadium. This week, I met with the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance and discussed legislation that Indiana's foundation leaders are closely watching this session. We discussed specific bills such as HB 1001- the budget, HB 1253 & SB 463- childcare and HB 1081- distributions to charitable beneficiaries. I am proud to provide public service to the Indiana philanthropic communities and continue to support bills that align with improving the quality of life for all residents.
