I had a busy and incredibly rewarding few days in District 34!![]()
I attended the open house for the Brightwood Forest Manor Community Center. This amazing center offers a range of programs, including a summer camp, workforce development services and a food pantry that serves the community twice a month.![]()
I was honored to present a Proclamation recognizing our dedicated Telecommunicators and 911 services during National Telecommunicator Week. These professionals play a critical role in emergencies, helping Hoosiers through some of their most dangerous and difficult moments.![]()
I also had the privilege of speaking at the Divine Transitions 2nd Annual 5K Walk for Life Kickoff at Hinkle Field. This powerful event supports Doula Care and Maternal Health, while raising awareness about the alarming maternal mortality rates among women of color.![]()
I always love connecting with constituents across District 34. Thank you for your continued engagement with the legislature and your support for such impactful community initiatives!![]()

I've received 300 reactions to my posts in the past 30 days. Thanks for your support. 🙏🤗🎉
This Tuesday, Senate Bill 1, regarding income tax relief, was signed by Governor Braun. Senate Bill 1 will make local government lose around $1.5 billion, $744 million of which would be taken from public schools and other local services, to provide homeowners with only $192 in savings on property taxes. Residents deserve meaningful property tax relief that does not come at the expense of our most essential public services like fire, police, EMS, libraries, and schools to protect our children, veterans, seniors, and other vulnerable populations. #INForAll
Yesterday, during session, our caucus submitted a resolution recognizing our Senate Democrat interns and the hard work and dedication they have put into this long session. I want to especially congratulate our scholarship recipients, sponsored by Verizon, Robyn and Ana Marie and the impactful work they've put into each day since the start. Thank you to our interns for everything and I wish you all well going forward on your future endeavors!
Today, the Senate passed House Bill 1001 following over four hours of testimony and over 60 amendments proposed by my caucus yesterday. My caucus offered amendments that would provide new revenue sources, fund public education, improve health and well being, and support working families and local communities. My individual amendments included funding for Martin University, IndyGo for microtransit, and Marion County Recorder for fraud prevention. Though all of my amendments were rejected, I look forward to continued conversations to fight for Senate District 34 and all Hoosiers.
