The 124th session of the Indiana General Assembly ended back in April. More than 200 bills were passed and signed into law by Governor Mike Braun.
With school out and more people heading to the beach, it is a good time to highlight the importance of water safety, especially in our region of the state. ![]()
This summer, I requested a study committee to explore including water safety as part of the school health curriculum. Our lake is beautiful, but it can be dangerous for those who are unprepared. Always bring a friend, know your limits and stay close to shore. ![]()
Stay safe, Hoosiers. #INForAll
This past weekend, I was proud to stand with the Michigan City community in celebration of Pride. June is a time to honor the LGBTQ+ community, their resilience, their progress and the ongoing fight for equality. I’m consistently reminded of the Pledge’s words “…liberty and justice for ALL.” Let’s continue to stand up for dignity, respect and equal rights for all. #INForAll
I’m honored to receive the Advocacy Champion Award from the Indiana Tobacco Education and Prevention Coalition for my work this session. It’s a privilege to stand alongside so many dedicated advocates working to reduce tobacco use and improve public health in our state. Advocacy like theirs is what brought us smoke-free restaurants and workplaces nearly two decades ago. Together, we can continue to grow programs that save lives and build a healthier Indiana. #INForAll
Yesterday, Michigan City celebrated the grand opening of the 11th Street Garage for the South Shore Line. Congrats to Mayor Angie Nelson Duitch for a fantastic event. This marks a new chapter of growth and opportunity for the city. It would not be possible without decades of bipartisan leadership at the local, state and federal level. With improved access and connectivity, the South Shore will bring visitors from across the region to experience all that Northwest Indiana has to offer. #INForAll
