Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom—and a reminder of how fiercely it must be defended. It marks the day the last enslaved people were told they were free—years after they should have been. That delay wasn’t an accident. It was a strategy. One we still see playing out today.Because let’s be clear:When books are banned, when history is rewritten, when peaceful voices are silenced, and when Black Hoosiers are still fighting to be seen and heard in their own communities—freedom is not fully realized.Juneteenth is not just about the past. It’s about what we do now—in a time when the very idea of justice is being politicized, when equity is treated as a threat and when some would rather erase our shared history than confront it.We will not look away.We will not be silent. And we will not stop fighting for a future where every Hoosier is truly free—not just in law, but in life.Freedom came late. Justice cannot.#Juneteenth #INForAll #ThisIsAmerica ... See MoreSee Less

Saturday morning, I had the profound honor of speaking at the Field of Honor Ceremony at Ivy Tech Bloomington—where rows upon rows of American flags ripple in tribute to the heroes who have served, sacrificed, and stood for something greater than themselves. Each flag tells a story. Of courage. Of love. Of service. Of struggle. And together, they remind us that the strength of our nation lies not in power, but in people—especially those who show up, stand up, and carry others forward.Thank you to the Exchange Club of Northside Bloomington and the many volunteers who made this sacred display possible. Funds raised support veterans and families in Southern Indiana who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. That’s patriotism in action. If you haven’t yet, take a walk through the Field of Honor. Let it speak to you. Let it remind you who we are—and who we’re still becoming. #INForAll ... See MoreSee Less

This weekend I stood shoulder to shoulder with Hoosiers who refuse to accept fear in place of freedom, cruelty in place of care or unchecked power in place of democracy. At more than 30 rallies across our state of Indiana, I saw the true power of community where thousands showed up—the people who don’t just talk about justice but live it, demand it and make it real. That’s the kind of leadership we need more of. Not crowns and commands but courage and compassion. I don’t just support the people I serve—I show up. I listen. I march. I believe that elected office is about standing with those who feel unheard, unsafe or unseen—and refusing to back down when our rights are on the line. Because here in Indiana we believe in liberty—not loyalty to power. We believe in people—not politics of control. And we’re not going anywhere. #INForAll #NoKings #DemocracyInAction ... Grateful to join the Ellettsville Chamber for a powerful convo with local leaders and business owners. When communities speak up, legislators listen. Thanks to all who showed up, asked bold questions and reminded me who I’m fighting for. #INForAll #StatehouseToMainStreet

Proud to help sign HB 1221 into law—a win for the teachers, public employees and first responders who gave everything to Indiana.

They showed up for us. This law shows up for them.
    This isn’t just policy—it’s a promise kept.
