INDIANAPOLIS—The Senate Appropriations Committee convened today to review recommitted bills and House Bill (HB) 1292. Following the hearing, State Senator David Niezgodski (D-South Bend) released the following statement in support of the legislation:

“I have seen firsthand the tremendous impact a focus on professional sports development can have on local communities,” said Niezgodski. “In my district in South Bend, we are adding another deck to our already spectacular Cubs stadium thanks to a similar initiative aimed at fostering sports development.”

“Sports and entertainment play a vital role in making Indiana a premier destination for tourism and economic growth,” said Niezgodski. “By investing in these projects and encouraging them to take root in our state, we can create new opportunities and strengthen Indiana’s economy.

“I am proud to support HB 1292 and wish Northwest Indiana success in its efforts to become a thriving sports destination,” said Niezgodski.
