INDIANAPOLIS – On Monday, the Senate adopted Senate Resolution (SR) 29 by voice vote. SR 29 condemns anti-Asian and Pacific Islander violence which has been on the rise since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The resolution is authored by State Senator J.D. Ford (D-Indianapolis) and State Senator Shelli Yoder (D-Bloomington).
Sen. Yoder had the following remarks on the adoption of SR 29:
“SR 29 passing without debate is one of my proudest moments since joining the Indiana Senate. This would not have happened, though, without the support of the community activists and non-profit leaders who advocated to the General Assembly that we should take leadership on this issue.
“Thank you especially to the Indiana chapter of the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum for their leadership on this resolution. We all have to do our part to stop racism in our state.”
