INDIANAPOLIS—State Senator David Niezgodski (D-South Bend) released the following statement following the State Budget Committee meeting:
“The Budget Committee’s agenda was extremely full. I am, once again, honored to have a role in this important decision-making process.
“I was happy to see the announcement of the READI 2.0 funds. All across the state, communities have been granted funds, including the South Bend and Central Indiana Regional Development Authorities. Now that its proposal is approved, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation can move forward in providing $500 million of funding to these regions to focus on projects that will enhance the quality of life in their communities.
“I am excited to see the South Bend-Elkhart RDA and five other regions receiving top dollar from the IEDC. Additionally, I am looking forward to the $3 million going to the modernization of Byer’s Softball Complex. These investments will allow for substantial growth and increased revenues in these districts. “
