Today, SB 388, which increases pensions for police officers and firefighters with 20 years or more of service, passed out of the Senate. I was happy to support this bipartisan bill to raise retirement benefits for those service members. I hope to see similar support in the House.

Today in the Appropriations Committee, we voted on SB 2 regarding Medicaid matters. While SB 2 has come a long way from the original draft, I believe there is still work to do. This morning the Pensions & Labor Committee heard SB 309, an alternate system of workers compensation designed specifically for self-serving communities that are able to adequately meet the needs of their residents in a self-sustaining manner.
