What an incredible day at the Monroe County Airport with the Civil Air Patrol (CAP)! ✈️ It was inspiring to learn about their vital work—from cadet programs and free STEM kits for classrooms to their emergency services, like helping with water distribution after recent storms. CAP’s dedication to our community is remarkable! Thank you to the CAP for your ongoing contributions, not just here in Monroe County but across Indiana. It was a day of inspiration and learning, and I look forward to exploring how we can continue to support and uplift these critical efforts. 🌟 #CommunityFirst #STEMEducation #INSenDems ... Today, we honor and remember. On this day 23 years ago, our nation was forever changed. We lost nearly 3,000 innocent lives in the tragic attacks of September 11, 2001,and we pay tribute to the bravery of the first responders, service members and ordinary citizens who displayed incredible courage and resilience. As we reflect, let’s recommit ourselves to the values of unity, hope, and service that define us as Americans. Today, we stand together, stronger than ever. ... See MoreSee Less

Yesterday was a great day for Monroe County and beyond as we gathered for the 4th Annual Recovery Summit. After pausing the annual Summit due to COVID, it was meaningful to be back together—thanks to the tireless efforts of the Substance Use Disorder Awareness Commission (SUDAC) and the legacy of Dr. Gregory May.Together, we brought professionals, community members and those with lived experience to the table to tackle some of the most pressing issues surrounding substance use and mental health. From stigma and harm reduction to new pathways for recovery—our conversations were raw, real, and essential for shaping how we approach recovery as a community.I was honored to be a keynote and grateful to each speaker, participant, and community member who showed up to learn, share, and create positive change. 💪❤️#EndTheStigma #mocorecoverysummit2024 #INSenDems ...
