INDIANAPOLIS—State Senator Jean Breaux (D-Indianapolis) released the following statement on her absence from session: 

“I want to take a moment to address my absence and provide an update. During the holiday season, I encountered an infection of unknown origin that has impacted my health. While this has presented challenges, my spirit remains strong and determined.  

“I am incredibly grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from my colleagues, who have diligently carried on the important work on behalf of our constituents in my absence. Their dedication has been unwavering, and I am thankful for their efforts. 

“My office continues to be fully operational and available to serve the needs of our constituents. Rest assured, there hasn’t been a moment when we weren’t working for you. 

“I am actively engaged in my recovery process and am optimistic about returning to work. The heartfelt concerns and well wishes I have received mean the world to me, and I thank everyone for their continued support during this time. As always, I will continue doing everything I can to advocate for the best interests of our community with the help of my colleagues in both the Senate and House.”
