INDIANAPOLIS—On Monday, SB 326 passed out of the Senate unanimously. The bill allows South Bend to collect additional tax revenue for the professional sports and convention development area and adds the Four Winds Field to the area, ensuring that this attraction receives more funding and can continue to grow its potential. One of the bill’s authors, State Senator David Niezgodski (D-South Bend), released the following statement in response:
“I am so proud to see SB 326 pass out of the Indiana Senate and am thankful to my colleagues and fellow authors on the bill, Senator Mishler and Senator Rogers. This bill will allow the already-great community of South Bend to grow, attract new businesses and revenue, and bring even more value to the economy of the region, Indiana, and to Hoosiers.
When we talk about quality-of-life investments, this is the kind of thing we mean: not just providing the basics but going above and beyond to ensure our citizens live in exceptional communities. This kind of bill is what draws people to Indiana and what makes people stay, and I sincerely hope we see it on the Governor’s desk in April.”
