Indianapolis–On Tuesday, Governor Holcomb delivered his state of the state address to Indiana. Assistant Minority Leader Eddie Melton (D-Gary) released the following statement in response:
“All across the state, Hoosiers families are up against hard times. Small businesses and organizations are struggling. Black and minority communities are still awaiting progress on justice reform. Yet, from the governor’s address, you wouldn’t know that. You wouldn’t know that our state was one of only five that didn’t extend absentee ballot voting this General election or that Indiana’s low minimum wages helped contribute to the struggles of our residents during this pandemic. From the governor’s address, you would think that our state was leading the charge on supporting our citizens, but, in reality, Indiana continues to come up short. The governor’s priorities should be about lifting up and standing for ALL Hoosiers. #DemandProgress #DemandJustice”
