🚨 Right now, Indiana has the third highest maternal mortality rate amongst all reporting states. This is unacceptable and we have to act now. 🚨Join for an interactive training specifically for doulas, birth workers and community advocates passionate about improving maternal health outcomes and to hear bout how we are working to address this critical issue in the statehouse. 🏛️I am looking forward to working alongside you all as we work to advance Jean Breaux ‘Momibus’ Maternal Health Package. Together, we can make a safer and healthier Indiana. 💙✨🗓️Date | Monday, December 16⏰Time | 6:00-7:30pm EST              5:00-6:30pm CST 📍Location | Indiana Interchurch Center, Krannert Room (Free childcare provided!) or on Zoom! ➡️Sign up for the event by using the link in my story! #INForAll ... The power of a second chance 💙Thank you to the Marion County Reentry Coalition for the opportunity to sit and listen to the powerful stories of justice-impacted folks in our community.
This listening session further highlighted the need to shift how we support returning citizens. Whether through navigating healthcare, housing or parole, we need to ensure we are doing what we can to ease the transition. 🫂
I look forward to continuing this conversation and working on comprehensive legislation to address reentry policies in Indiana. ✨ #InForAll ... See MoreSee Less

❗️Indiana families deserve childcare.❗️
️We need to seriously consider our priorities when we are forcing families onto waitlists for child care assistance. This assistance is to support working class families. Yet, we spend $1 billion of our budget on school choice vouchers for families making up to $230,000 a year. #MakeItMakeSense Programs like the Child Care Development Fund and On My Way Pre-K are essential in assisting low-income families with necessary childcare. 🫂Trust that I will continue to tirelessly advocate for the full funding of these programs that are critical to so many. #InForAll ... Rebuilding the American Dream 🗽 It was such a privilege to be in in Washington D.C. for the 48th National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL) alongside powerful voices from both state and federal levels. 💫 This year, the conference’s theme was Rebuilding the American Dream. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have important conversations with peers from across the country to look at ways we can ensure the American Dream is accessible to all in a landscape where so many barriers exist for Black Americans.   It is encouraging to know that these issues are a part of federal conversations as well and are being championed in Washington D.C. by people such as my Congressman, André Carson, and Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett.  🇺🇸 Indiana was especially well represented, as my friend in the statehouse, Rep. Pryor, was reelected and sworn in as the National Treasurer for the NBCSL. 💙 It is truly an honor to be in our nation’s capitol, and I am looking forward to using these crucial conversations to help shape an Indiana that is equal for all. ✨ #INForAll ... 💙 Help is available! 💙The winter months can be especially difficult for our neighbors who are experiencing different types of crises due to extreme temperatures and the emotional toll the holidays can bring. 🫂However, we are so fortunate to have a robust community of folks working day and night to serve others, and the Coalition for Homelessness Intervention and Prevention (CHIP) does a wonderful job compiling those resources in their Handbook of Help (HoH). ⭐️The HoH is updated annually and covers key needs such as shelter, food, health care and much more! 💫➡️There is free, 24/7, access online, and you can view it by scanning the QR code, or by visiting chipindy.org/hoh. #InForAll ... Hoosiers deserve public transit! 🚌 We have seen time and time again that people want to be able to safely, and reliably, access downtown and other essentials. The Purple Line will offer that access to our neighbors on the Far Eastside and Lawrence. Congrats @IndyGoBus! #INForAll

✨ Meeting our young leaders of today ✨As a former Girl Scout, it was my absolute pleasure to meet with Girl Scout troop 3728 from CFI 27 School. It gives me endless hope for our future to see our state’s children so passionately engaged with our democracy. 💙🇺🇸 #INForAll
