Big congrats to Dr. Jeff Butts on his upcoming retirement as Superintendent of MSD Wayne Township and his new role leading the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents.
Dr. Butts has been a champion for public education—someone who leads with heart, vision and results. From expanding preschool and adult education to helping thousands of students graduate and succeed, his impact is undeniable.
I’m grateful for his partnership and leadership, and I know Indiana’s schools will be better because he’s still in the fight—just at a new level.
Thank you, Dr. Butts. You’ve made a difference. #INForAll
I didn’t wait for disaster to strike before taking action. I filed a budget amendment to fund Indiana Task Force One before the headlines—because I’ve seen their work up close in my district, and I know how critical they are.![]()
But being proactive doesn’t always get applause. It often gets ignored.![]()
Despite bipartisan support, the Republican supermajority blocked it. And now? Federal chaos is putting our search and rescue team—Hoosiers who respond to floods, fires and building collapses—at risk of not having the resources to do their job.![]()
This isn’t some future threat. This is now. And it didn’t have to be this way.![]()
We owe our first responders more than thanks—we owe them the funding to do what they do best: save lives.![]()

Federal funding uncertainty has eliminated several programs across Indiana and threatens other Hoosier priorities.
Proud to stand alongside patients, providers and advocates as the governor signed Senate Enrolled Act (SEA) 480 into law.
I co-authored this bill because I’ve heard the stories—people waiting days, sometimes weeks, just to get approval for care they urgently need. That’s not how health care should work.
SEA 480 brings real reform. It cuts red tape, speeds up approvals and makes sure medical decisions are made by people with clinical experience—not insurance company middlemen.
This is what it looks like when we listen, lead and put Hoosiers first.

AES Indiana has filed rate case that, if approved, could raise utility bills for families across Marion County.
Senator Qaddoura and I are urging the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) to hold at least five public hearings so Hoosiers can make their voices heard. When there’s only one electricity provider, transparency and accountability are essential.
Our communities deserve a say before their bills go up—not after.

Yesterday, I had the honor of attending Carmel’s first-ever Juneteenth celebration—a powerful moment of reflection, remembrance and resolve.![]()
Juneteenth reminds us that freedom in name is not freedom in full. It calls us to not only reckon with our history, but also to keep building a future rooted in justice and dignity for all. #INForAll
