Hoosiers, the 2025 Session has been pivotal for our state from the budget to hits on diversity, equity and inclusion across Indiana.![]()
The supermajority has worked more for the ultra-wealthy instead of the working class, property owners and public schools in the new budget with school choice vouchers and more hurdles for childcare.![]()
Though these challenges will affect us immensely, I stand with my caucus to keep working for the betterment of Indiana. Use this link to read my statement on the 2025 Session here: tinyurl.com/4mrys8hs #INForAll

The new version of the two-year budget for our state was released. While there are aspects like increased taxes on all tobacco products, there are areas that need improvement for Hoosiers.![]()
The budget expands vouchers for private schools and shifts the balance away from all public schools. There is also a 60% decrease in the original budget for public health, which will underserve working Hoosiers who need those services the most.![]()

What exactly are conference committees, and what do they do? Bill authors and sponsors meet to discuss proposed changes before the conference committee. In the conference committees itself, the changes are announced and discussed.
Conference committees can last a few minutes to a few hours and see language added or cut from the original bill. The bill’s overall goal can be changed as well. See the slides for more information!. #INForAll
Clean air is a necessity for all Hoosiers, and as we face rising levels of CO2 emissions, I have been advocating to promote air quality for our state. ![]()
SB 103, which was eligible for concurrence, will evaluate air quality around the state and identify strategies to reduce emissions such as vehicle emissions in compliance with the Federal Clean Air Act.![]()
As Hoosiers, the air we breathe should not be full of harmful pollutants that will cause health problems. I was honored to co-author this bill and speak in favor of its movement through the legislature. #INForAll
Advocates for autism awareness from Piece by Piece made their voices heard in the Statehouse as they took the time to prop up those on the spectrum.![]()
In Northwest Indiana, we have Ben’s Blue Bags which provides sensory kits and training for first responders to even better aid those on the spectrum in emergencies.HB 1307, authored by Rep. Mike Andrade, would have provided grant funding for public safety agencies to purchase sensory kits. ![]()
Though this bill did not make it out of the House, and my efforts to include funding in the Senate budget was unsuccessful, I will not give up on working to support those on the autism spectrum.#INForAll![]()
