The AI Task Force met for the second time today. Our task force continued to explore the emerging industry of AI and discuss where future regulation could be needed to keep up with rapidly changing technology. Today we discussed: 1. Impact of AI on the workforce and manufacturing 2. AI's impact on copyrighting 3. Establishing AI laws for the private sector 4. Civilian cybersecurityThese are critical topics, and I am grateful to be a part of these proactive conversations that we hope will lead to positive outcomes for our state. Our next meeting, focused on education, is on Sept. 8 at 1:00 PM. The agenda and a livestream link can be found here: tinyurl.com/3t28uk83 ... See MoreSee Less

This week, I was able to speak before the IURC, OUCC and AES about the pending $30 per month increase to people's electric bills. At one point in the meeting, I asked anyone in attendance who supported the rate case to raise their hand. Not a single hand was raised. Every person in attendance opposed the increase because they know how detrimental it is to the people already getting priced out of their utilities: seniors on fixed incomes, disabled neighbors and low-income households already choosing between basic needs and power bills. There is one more opportunity for public comment tonight at 6 PM at the Fort Event Center at Fort Harrison State Park. Written comments are being accepted until Sept. 2. Everyone benefits from mail-in ballots.

Voting is one of our foremost civic duties, and I will always support measures that make free, fair and secure elections accessible to more people: Voting by mail is one way we achieve this. (1/2)

With D.C. setting its sights on mail-in ballots and the possibility of a special session here in Indiana, we need to be proactive about standing up for voting accessibility in our state.
