INDIANAPOLIS—Senate Democratic Leader Greg Taylor (D-Indianapolis) released the following statement announcing committee assignments for the 2024 Legislative Session.

“Next year, my caucus is dedicated to continuing our fight for Hoosiers’ families, futures and freedoms. As we prepare to head into this important legislative year and fight for an economy for the people, I’m excited to share updated committee assignments.”

State Senator David Niezgodski (D-South Bend) will serve as the Ranking Minority Member of the Senate Appropriations Committee. He will also serve as a voting member of the Budget Agency.

“Senator Niezgodski has been a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee for seven years and also served on the House Ways and Means Committee during his time in the House. He has successfully advocated for countless proposals to promote Hoosier prosperity and bolster economic development across the state. I’m excited to name him as the new Ranking Minority Member of the Senate Appropriations Committee as well as the new member of the State Budget Agency. I know he will continue his excellent work on behalf of Hoosiers, and I look forward to Sen. Niezgodski’s leadership in this critical committee as our caucus works to build an economy for the people in 2024.”

State Senator Andrea Hunley (D-Indianapolis) will now serve as the Ranking Minority Member of the Senate Commerce and Technology Committee and the Ranking Minority Member of the Senate Utilities Committee. She will also be joining the Senate Tax and Fiscal Committee as the new minority member.

“Senator Hunley will be kicking off her second year in the Senate as Ranking Minority Member of the Senate Commerce and Technology Committee as well as the Senate Utilities Committee. She will also be joining the extremely important Tax and Fiscal committee. The knowledge, passion and thoughtfulness that Sen. Hunley brings to every session meeting will serve her well in these committees and place our caucus in the best position to fight for the economic advancement of all Indiana residents next session.”
